While it could be Cirque du Soleil, let's assume it's the one with
lions, tigers, and clowns. Imagine trapeze artists flying
through the air, acrobats on horseback, and sword swallowers.
Have you been recently? Go some time just to breathe in all the
sights and sounds, and the memories and dreams you had as a kid.
Did you ever read Toby Tyler when you were a kid? Did you ever
want to run away and join the circus? Why didn't you?
Now imagine your character and WRITE the answers to these questions:
Would your character have run away to join the circus given half a
chance? If not, why not? If so, why?
Did she ever think about it? Why or why not?
If she had joined the circus, what would she have been? Why
that? What appealed to her about doing that?
If not a traditional circus, would she have joined up with something
like Cirque du Soleil? Something else?
Does a circus come to town during your story? If so, how could
that show up in your story?
Now do this for each of your characters. |
