I can't recommend this enough. Randy
Ingermanson is the originator of this super useful method which is
essentially based on a fractal mathematical model. Especially
cool is that it's a great technique for avoiding writers block.
Basically, it helps you build the story
organically in increments so you don't actually have to
"write". Instead you grow the story -- which I think
works really well and suits the natural development of a story.
You will probably want to modify it somewhat
to suit your particular working style -- which is as it should
be. I've been using a form of this to help develop a double
trilogy I'm working on right now (current working title: The
Khurinla Saga) and it's been invaluable.
The best part - it's free, as are a number
of other excellent writing articles on his site. Be sure and
sign up for his fabulous newsletter. He has a style all his own
and it will have you in stitches. Although he's recently been
conned into moving from California to Washington atate (oh, the
horror of it!), he still has an inimitable California voice.
This is well worth your time. |
